Tampa Bay Neighborhoods


This page explains how the Neighborhood Boundaries relate to commonly used names for areas within the City of Tampa.  For the most part, the neighborhoods fall within one of the areas described below.  In some cases, however, neighborhood boundaries traverse more than one area and are listed in each.  To find your particular neighborhood, scroll down through the descriptions then click the link to view the information.

Ballast Point       Ballast Point [map-PDF]
Located in the southeastern half of the Interbay Peninsula, Ballast Point is bounded on the north by Euclid Avenue, the east by Hillsborough Bay, the south by MacDill Air Force Base and the west by Dale Mabry Highway. Neighborhood Associations located within the area include Interbay, Ballast Point, Palma Ceia Park, and Gandy Civic Association.

Beach Park        Beach Park / Sunset Park [map-PDF]
Located in the northwest Interbay Peninsula, Beach Park / Sunset Park is bounded on the north by Kennedy Boulevard, the east by Dale Mabry Highway, the south by Euclid Avenue, and the west by Old Tampa Bay. Predominately single family residential, the area has ten Neighborhood Associations: Beach Park, Beach Park Isles, Culbreath Isles, Culbreath Bayou, Culbreath Heights, Bel Mar Shores, South Westshore, Sunset Park, Mid-Peninsula, and Virginia Park. 

Channelside        Channelside/Garrison Channel                                                                                                                                                                                                                In the early 1900's when the railroad was the primary means of transport in Florida, large brick warehouses were built in Tampa's bustling Channel District near Union Station and Ybor Channel.  In 1993, The Tampa City Council passed The Channel District Plan which amended the zoning to encourage mixed use; pedestrian-friendly and residential uses within the neighborhood. Large public and private entities began reclaiming the valuable waterfront with daring architectural endeavors such as The Florida Aquarium, Seaport Street Terminal, The Ice Palace, the new Tampa Port Authority Headquarters/USF Downtown Center, and the Marriott Waterside Hotel. The City of Tampa dedicated land on Garrison Channel for a new public park.

DowntownCDB        Downtown / CBD [map-PDF]
The Downtown / CBD Area is bounded on the north by Palm Avenue, the south by the Hillsborough Bay and the Crosstown Expressway, the west by the CSX Railway, and the east by Ybor Channel.  The following Neighborhood Associations are located in the area, Channel District Council, Harbour Island, Hyde Park North, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Tampa Heights, and South Nebraska. The Tampa Convention Center, Port Authority Cruise Terminal, and University of Tampa are located within the area, as well as, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Ice Palace, Channelside, the Tampa Theater, and the Florida Aquarium. 

Drew Park/West Tampa        Drew Park / West Tampa [map-PDF]
The Drew Park / West Tampa area, located in the northwest corner of Tampa, is bounded on the north by Hillsborough Avenue and the City Limits, the east by the Hillsborough River, the south by Columbus Drive and Boy Scout Boulevard, and the west by Eisenhower Boulevard and the City limits. Neighborhood Associations include Drew Park Property League, Carver City / Lincoln Gardens, Plaza Terrace, Wellswood Civic Association, Northeast MarFarlane. The Tampa International Airport, two major hospitals and their associated medical services, and a campus of the Hillsborough Community College is located in this area.

Hyde Park/ PalmaCeia        Hyde Park / Palma Ceia [map-PDF]
Hyde Park / Palma Ceia is located in the south-central part of Tampa adjacent to Hillsborough Bay. It is bounded on the north by Kennedy Boulevard and Swann Avenue, the east by Seddon Channel, the south by Euclid Avenue and Hillsborough Bay, and the west by Dale Mabry Highway. There are numerous Neighborhood Associations in the area, including Courier City, Parkland Estates, Palma Ceia Park, Hyde Park North, Old Hyde Park, Davis Islands, Bayshore Beautiful. The area’s significant features include Olde Hyde Park Village, Tampa General Hospital, the Marjorie Park Yacht Basin and several historic structures.

Lowry Park        Lowry Park [map-PDF]
Located in the northern part of Tampa, Lowry Park is bounded on the north by the city limits (just north of Fowler Avenue); on the east by North Boulevard, Busch Boulevard, the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, and the Hillsborough River, on the south by Hillsborough Avenue; and on the west by the City limits (just west of Armenia Avenue). Neighborhood Associations include Hillsborough Heights, Lowry Park, Lowry Park North, North Central / Forest Hills, Riverbend, and Sulfur Springs. City-wide or regional attractions include: Tampa Greyhound Track, Forest Hills Golf Course (City owned), and the Lowry Park Zoo. 

North East Tampa        Northeast Tampa / Rowlett Park [map-PDF]
N. E. Tampa / Rowlett Park, located in northeast Tampa, is bounded on the north by Fowler Avenue; the east by the City limits; the south by the Hillsborough River, Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and Busch Boulevard; and the west by North Boulevard.  Neighborhood Associations include Blue Sink Coalition, North Tampa Community, University Square, Hillsborough Heights, Terrace Park, Temple Crest. Features of both city-wide and regional significance include Busch Gardens and Rowlett Park.

New Tampa    Northeast Tampa / Rowlett Park [map-PDF]
N. E. Tampa / Rowlett Park, located in northeast Tampa, is bounded on the north by Fowler Avenue; the east by the City limits; the south by the Hillsborough River, Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and Busch Boulevard; and the west by North Boulevard.  Neighborhood Associations include Blue Sink Coalition, North Tampa Community, University Square, Hillsborough Heights, Terrace Park, Temple Crest. Features of both city-wide and regional significance include Busch Gardens and Rowlett Park.   

Old Seminole Heights        Old Seminole Heights [map-PDF]
Seminole Heights, located in the northeast central part of Tampa, is bounded on the north and west by the Hillsborough River; the south by Hillsborough Avenue; and the east by 43rd Street and the City limits. Neighborhood Associations include Live Oaks Square, Northeast Community, Old Seminole Heights, River Grove, Temple Crest, and Woodland Terrace. Major public facilities include the Tampa Water Works and Rogers Park. 

Palmetto Beach/Grant Park        Palmetto Beach / Grant Park [map-PDF]
Palmetto Beach / Grant Park, located in the southeast corner of the City of Tampa, is bounded on the north by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and the City limit line; the east by the City limits and eastern shoreline of McKay Bay; the south by the City limits and Hillsborough Bay; and generally to the west by Hillsborough Bay and Ybor Channel. Neighborhood Associations in the area include Florence Villa/Beasley, Galloway, Grant Park Civic Association, Highland Pines, Northview Hills, and Palmetto Beach. The Port of Tampa and related industrial facilities are prominent features in this neighborhood.  

Port Tampa/Interbay          Port Tampa / Interbay [map-PDF]
Port Tampa / Interbay, located in the southwest Interbay section of Tampa, is bounded on the north by Euclid Avenue, the east by Dale Mabry Highway, the south by MacDill Air Force Base, and the west by Old Tampa Bay. Neighborhood Associations include Fair Oaks/Manhattan Manor, Gandy Civic Association, Guernsey Estates, Interbay, Port Tampa, and South Westshore. The area also contains Picnic island, a recreation area of regional significance.

Tampa Heights        Tampa Heights [map-PDF]
Tampa Heights, located in the west-central Tampa, is bounded on the north by Hillsborough Avenue, the east by Nebraska Avenue, the south by I-275, and the west by the Hillsborough River. Neighborhood Associations in the area include Ridgewood River, Riverside Heights, Southeast Seminole Heights, and South Seminole Heights.

Tampa Palms        Tampa Palms [map-PDF]
Tampa Palms, located at the northern portion of the City, is bounded on the north and east by Interstate 75, the west by the City limits, and the south by Fowler Avenue. With portions of this area annexed into the city during the mid 1980's, the majority of the area is residential. Neighborhood Associations in the area include Tampa Palms. Facilities of regional prominence include The University of South Florida, located in the southwest corner.

Westchase        Westchase [map-PDF]

WestshoreCBD        Westshore to CBD [map-PDF]
The Westshore to CBD area is located in the west-central portion of Tampa, bounded on the north by Columbus Drive and Spruce Street, the east by the Hillsborough River and the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, the south by John F. Kennedy Boulevard, and the west by Old Tampa Bay.  Neighborhood Associations in the area include Carver City/Lincoln Gardens, MacFarlane Park, Midtown, North Bon Air, North Hyde Park, Northeast MacFarlane Park, Oakford Park, Old West Tampa, West Riverfront, Westshore Alliance, and Westshore Palm.  This area is primarily a mixed-used business district and is one of the City's largest employment corridors.

Ybor City        Ybor City [map-PDF]
The Ybor City Area is located in the east-central part of Tampa, bounded on the north by 26th Avenue, the east by 37th Street, the south by Adamo Drive and Cass Street, and the west by Nebraska Avenue and I-275. The most significant feature of the area is the Ybor City District and Entertainment District. Neighborhood Associations include Channel District, East Ybor Historic, Ybor Historic, South Nebraska, Tampa Downtown Partnership, and V.M. Ybor.
